Assistant Welsh Six Day Team Manager and Llangollen Club member Jeff Edwards reports that the first meeting of the year for Welsh Team recruits was well attended.
Twenty Welsh riders registered for selection consideration along with a few ever faithful helpers. The Welsh Teams success in recent years is the benchmark for this year’s effort. In the last two events entered, the Welsh Teams have claimed top British Team spots for both the A and B teams. In 2003 the Welsh “A” team of Mark Vaughan, Rowan Jones, and Llangollen Club member Andrew Edwards weren’t too far from claiming the World team prize but eventually had to settle for 4th. That’s 4th out of teams from every country in the world, a fantastic result.
This year the riders are going to be busy raising money to support their efforts, so if any club members can assist, please do.
One of the ideas for fundraising is a Trail Ride out with some Championship class riders. A good day out on trails you have never seen before and a chance to see how Championship riders hit the deck big time! All proceeds will go into the six day fund so if you fancy it pass your details forward and we will see what can be arranged.
